Measures to support accessibility

The Employment + Education Centre takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of Public Website:

    • Include accessibility as part of our mission statement.

    • Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.

    • Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.

    • Have a third party perform accessibility scans using professional software, on a periodic basis.

    • Added an accessibility plugin to WordPress that provides additional accessibility tools and settings for site visitors.

    • Performed extensive remediation work to fix solvable accessibility issues, and identify additional issues that can be solved over time.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Public Website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

    1. WordPress Plugin Errors: WordPress plugins generate some non-compliant HTML and CSS code, which may cause difficulties with assistive technologies. Because we cannot alter or update plugin code, we are working to identify and switch to more accessible plugins.. Please email us if you encounter an issue.
