Roots to Wings Mentorship Program

Roots To Wings

Enhance Your Career with Personalized Support from Local Professionals

Do you need advice or assistance with building your career? Consider joining our Roots to Wings mentorship program which pairs individuals with professionals in the community for the purpose of personal and professional development. Our mentorship program has helped many people reduce their learning curve and shorten their path to success. We can help you too!

At the Employment + Education Centre, mentors provide career advice as well as support and encouragement. Our mentees benefit from the knowledge, real life experience and guidance of committed professionals that have undergone similar personal and career challenges. Schedule a meeting to find out how you can be matched with a mentor from your field of interest.

What is Roots To Wings?

Our mentorship program builds on the ‘roots’ that individuals have established in this community and empowers them to develop their ‘wings’. Through training, one-on-one mentorship, workshops and events that inspire individual advancement, we strive to enhance your opportunities and career. Individuals in Leeds and Grenville that are part of this initiative have the opportunity to gain valuable experience and advice on career development, improved decision making, and forming healthy relationships.

Program Highlights:

  • Roots to Wings facilitates "traditional one-on-one mentoring" through phone, email, and in person meetings.
  • Matches are based on the career field and other interests that both the mentor and mentee share.
  • The duration of the mentorship will be determined on a case by case basis.
  • Meetings are led by the mentee and supported by the mentor.
  • Both mentor and mentee benefit from regular meetings, consistent commitment and equal input from both parties.
  • Typical focus areas include goal setting, career exploration, career management, and career development.
  • Roots to Wings also offers optional monthly workshops for program participants.

  • Individuals aged 15+ who are registered clients of the EEC and are looking for support in career decision making, career management and development, job retention, and soft skills enhancement.
